FAQs
- What’s the time commitment? Weekly meetings last an hour. Monthly special activities can range from a couple of hours to overnight for events like camping.
- What do Scouts do? Scouts earn belt loops (think merit badges) by completing Adventures in areas like: physical fitness, camping, fishing, safety, & others. As they get older they can also learn about pocket knives, using tools, & first aid. An equally important part of Scouting is service to our community which we do at various times. Finally at places like Camp Belzer they can really go high adventure with archery, bb gun shooting, rock wall climbing, and more.
- What’s the parent’s role? Pack 9 is a family led pack, and we rely on your involvement to keep things going. There are opportunities to be involved ranging from bringing snacks & clean-up to Den Leader, Committee Member, or even Cubmaster.
- What does Scouting cost? There are costs associated with Scouting. There are annual National and Council dues ($165 per year). Additionally there are costs like uniforms, handbooks, and one-time costs associated with events like camping, etc. However we try to offset these two ways: fundraising and registration assistance. Talk to a Pack Leader to learn more. NO CHILD WILL EVER BE TURNED AWAY FROM PACK 9 DUE TO FINANCIAL REASONS.
